One day while shopping at home depot I found that they sell wall plates that fit together like puzzle pieces so that you can mix and match various plates (light switches, outlets, telephone, etc.) in the same wall box as you wish. The first thing that came to mind was making a huge bank of outlets for my computer area, where I am always running out of plugs.
So I started gathering these puzzle plates, a box of outlets, a bunch of wire, and so on. I was disappointed when I found out the largest box they sold was a 4-gang. Well I decided that 8 should be enough, so I got that and carried on. So here's a picture of the box I built that sits on the floor next to my UPS. The 4 outlets on the side closest to the camera go to the "battery power supplied" side of the UPS, and the other 4 go to the "surge protection only" side. The coolest part is that I can put two wall-warts side by side without losing an outlet in between!
